Born in 1997 in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China, Yilin Li studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Southern California. Drawing from shifting socioeconomic conditions, experiences of cultural displacement, and the impact of urbanization, she explores the themes of memory and root-searching through multifaceted practices in performance, video, and sculpture. Her work reevaluates the relationship between the self, community, the surrounding urban and rural environments.
